In 2019, music, film & visual artist, Maggie Kubley, asked me to come on board as a director for the multi-media presentation of her music at Steppenwolf. In between songs and videos, Maggie would tell stories, perform sketches, and chat with audience. My work consisted anywhere from directing Maggie on storytelling, to helping decide the order of the pieces. In 2020, Maggie premiered her music video for her song, “Come Over,” at the Pivot Arts Festival. I came on again to help direct and craft a 10 minute performance that would precede the video, working with Maggie on concept, edits and staging. My work with Maggie utilizes my directing skills to craft a story based around theme, rather than singular narrative, and my work on multi-media productions.
